Yoga can help with slowness and stiffness, improve balance and flexibility (especially in hips and ankles), and increase muscle strength and power. It can also relax blood pressure, help control weight gain, and increase breathing strength and lung capacity. Many people also report having better mood and sleep, while going to group classes is a way of meeting others and being more socially active. Class Leader, Isobel Collyer is trained in restorative yoga as well as yoga for special needs. A fully qualified yogi she has been providing small group sessions for people with Parkinson’s for 4 years.

“Yoga provides gentle stretching which, if done regularly, helps to loosen muscles. As well as the physical relief, yoga has a wonderful soothing and calming effect on the brain, and the breathing.”
